Texas State Opens 2026 Cross Country Season at UIW Twilight

SAN MARCOS, Texas Texas State opens the 2026 cross country season Tuesday night at the UIW Twilight at the Classic Elite Soccer Complex in San Antonio.

The women's 4K race is scheduled to begin at 8:50 p.m., followed by the men's 6K at 9:15 p.m.


The Bobcats have opened the season at the UIW Twilight each of the past five seasons. Texas State has recorded top-three finishes on both sides in each of the last three seasons, with the men finishing third and the women second in each of the past two meets. The men finished second in 2023.

The women's team turned in three top-five performances at last season's UIW Twilight. Macias won the women's 4K in 13:46.9, while Garcia finished fourth in 14:08.2 and Parra placed seventh in 14:11.9.

On the men's side, Deelman led the Bobcats at the 2025 UIW Twilight, finishing 11th in the 6K with a time of 18:39.3.

Texas State returns six runners from last season's women's team and six from the men's team.

On the women's side, the Bobcats return Nyomi Garcia, Kimberly Gloria, Abigail Parra, Sanai Robinson, Destiney Rose and Alexia Tiscareno Macias.

The men's team returns Eyan Calico, Jack Deelman, Julian Dominguez, David Herring, Nathan Morales and Anthony Sandoval.

The Bobcats return a pair of All-Sun Belt First Team performers in Parra and Macias.

Parra enters the season as the reigning Sun Belt Conference women's cross country champion after winning the 5K at the 2025 conference championship with a personal-best time of 16:52.10. She was named the 2025 Sun Belt Women's Runner of the Year and earned All-Sun Belt First Team honors.

Macias finished runner-up to Parra at the 2025 Sun Belt Championship, recording a personal-best 5K time of 17:09.40 to earn All-Sun Belt First Team honors.

Texas State enters the 2026 season following a pair of top-five finishes at the 2025 Sun Belt Championship. The women finished third in the 5K, while the men placed fourth in the 8K.

Tuesday's meet will mark the beginning of a new era for Texas State cross country as the Bobcats compete in the Pac-12 for the first time.

The Pac-12 Cross Country Championships are scheduled for Oct. 30 in Boise, Idaho.

Following the conference championship, Texas State is scheduled to compete at the NCAA South Central Regional on Nov. 13 in College Station.
