KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Texas State senior Victoria Meza was named to the United Soccer Coaches Defender to Watch list, the organization announced Monday. Meza is one of three Pac-12 Conference players to receive the honor.

The Players to Watch lists announced by United Soccer Coaches are compiled and released by the Division I All-America committees to promote college soccer leading up to the regular season. The lists include United Soccer Coaches All-Americans and All-Region players from 2025 who are scheduled to return for the 2026 season.

Meza collected a series of honors during her junior season, beginning with preseason recognition as the 2025 Sun Belt Preseason Midfielder of the Year and a selection to the 2025 Preseason All-Sun Belt Team. The San Salvador, El Salvador native followed with a standout campaign, earning first-team All-Sun Belt honors, being named the Sun Belt Tournament Most Outstanding Player and securing a spot on the Sun Belt All-Tournament Team. She missed four matches in 2025 due to a call-up to compete for the El Salvador National Team but started 16 matches for Texas State where she played all 90 minutes eight different times.

Meza is entering her fourth season as a Bobcat and has competed in 49 career matches across 4,268 minutes.

These positional announcements also pave the way for the release of the 2026 watch lists for the prestigious Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy, which will be announced on the opening date of the regular season (August 13). Awarded annually by the Missouri Athletic Club, the MAC Hermann Trophy recognizes the Division I National Players of the Year, as voted on by Division I college coaches at the end of the regular season. The 2026 winners will be honored on January 8, 2027, in St. Louis, Missouri.
