Bobcats Blank Rams to Secure First-Ever Pac-12 Win

SAN MARCOS, Texas – A physical match proven by double figure fouls for both sides saw the Bobcats (8-3-3, 1-2-1 Pac-12) secure its first Pac-12 Conference win in history as a 1-0 final score over Colorado State (3-10-2, 2-3-0 Pac-12) made the difference on Friday night at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.

The Bobcats and Rams fought for possession both ways in the first half, until Nina Norshie broke through two Rams defenders into the 18-yard box and punched in her third goal in two matches in the 25th minute. Norshie notched her team second-best sixth goal of the campaign.

Between the posts, the keepers combined for 20 saves, while Caitlyn Draper held the edge and posted her third 11-save match of the season. Draper knocked away a Colorado State penalty kick attempt in the 49th minute that kept the Bobcat advantage at one. Draper is five saves shy of the 200-save milestone marker in her Texas State career, as she leads the Pac-12 with 73 saves in that department this season.

By the numbers, the Rams outshot the Bobcats 17-14 with 11-10 on frame, while the Bobcats took five corner kicks to Colorado State's three.

QUOTABLE
Head Coach Steve Holeman
"What an awesome feeling for the first Pac-12 win after a dry stretch and to do it with a shutout, at home with a fantastic crowd. Around the 20 minute mark, I saw the defense kick it up a notch. We've struggled in the last few games with our attack and creating scoring opportunities, so we've been working hard there, and it's good to see everything pay off tonight."
