Younger Inks with Men’s Basketball

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State men's basketball head coach Terrence Johnson announced the signing of KJ Younger to the program for the 2026-27 season on Thursday.

"KJ is a three-level scorer who brings great positional size and the ability to play above the rim. He is a strong, physical guard whose game will translate well to the Pac-12. We are excited to have him in a Bobcat uniform," said Johnson.

Younger arrives in San Marcos after playing his freshman campaign at UNC Greensboro. He was one of two players to start all 34 games and was second on the team in scoring at 15.1 points per game with 522 points.

The 6-foot, 4-inch guard made 44.7% (170-of-380) shot attempts, knocked down 71.1% (113-of-159) of his free throws and made a team-high 62 three-pointers while shooting 34.1% from beyond the arc. He also grabbed 4.7 rebounds per game, handed out 42 assists and recorded 30 steals.

Younger had 26 games with at least 10 points and posted eight 20-plus point contests. He ended the season with nine consecutive double-digit scoring games. The future Bobcat netted a season-high 30 points on 11-of-20 shooting and four made treys at Mercer on Jan. 29.

He graduated from Weddington High School in Matthews, N.C. and earned all-state honors after averaging 22.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
