Texas State Hosts Marshall for Last Sun Belt Series

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The last weekend series for Texas State (31-22, 13-14 Sun Belt) takes place this weekend at Irvine-Rasmussen Ballpark with Marshall (23-28, 13-14 Sun Belt) coming to town. Both Thursday's and Friday's games are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and the finale on Sunday is set for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
 
All three contests will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats will be available.
 
Due to commencement ceremonies taking place at the same time, fans attending games are encouraged to park in the football lot (P-10W) behind right field of the ballpark.

Thursday: TXST LHP Ryan Markwardt (1-2) vs. MAR LHP Bryce Blevins (8-3)
Friday TXST RHP Wade Cooper (5-3) vs. MAR RHP Drew Harlow (4-5)
Saturday: TXST TBA vs. MAR RHP Kenyon Collins (2-6)
 
ABOUT TEXAS STATE
The Bobcats saw their four-game winning streak come to an end on Tuesday at I-35 rival UTSA. Last weekend, TXST swept Arkansas State on the road, the third time sweeping a Sun Belt Conference opponent this season. The Bobcats are 21-10 at home this season with a 6-6 record against league foes.
 
Rashawn Galloway leads the team with a .341 batting average, 76 hits, 23 doubles and three triples. The senior has also recorded 50 runs, 45 RBI and 12 home runs. Jaquae Stewart enters leading the way with 14 home runs and 50 RBI. Jackson Cotton has also hit 12 long balls and sports a team best 11 stolen bases. Leaving the year 11 times and sporting a .420 OBP is Manny Salas.
 
Slated to start on Thursday is left-hander Ryan Markwardt. He enters the game with a 1-2 record, 5.79 ERA and 26 strikeouts over 18.2 innings in nine games that includes four starts. Wade Cooper, who is coming off his first career complete game effort in the series opener at Arkansas State. The right-hander is 5-3 with five saves, a 4.06 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 51.0 innings. Sunday's starter is still to be announced.
 
ABOUT MARSHALL
The Thundering Herd head into the weekend having dropped 10 of their last 15 games. Last weekend saw them win their final home series over ULM with victories in the first two contests. Marshall is 8-15 in road games this season with a 5-7 record against Sun Belt opponents.
 
Evan Bottone leads the team with a .389 batting average, 77 hits, and 11 stolen bases. He has also scored 53 runs, totaled 36 RBI and hit six home runs. Tyler Kamere has also scored 53 times and is hitting .319 with a team-high 18 doubles. Also with an average over .300 is Cooper Hinson at .312 along with totaling 17 doubles. A squad best 10 homers and 48 RBI belong to Jackson Halter.
 
Scheduled to take the mound on Thursday is Bryce Blevins. The lefty is 8-3 with a 4.45 ERA and 83 strikeouts in 95.0 innings over 13 starts. Right-hander Drew Harlow (4-5, 4.79 ERA, 69 K) follows on Friday and Saturday's starter is slated to be Kenyon Collins, who is 2-6 with a 5.18 ERA and 66 punch outs.
 
SERIES VS. THUNDERING HERD
Texas State leads the all-time series 4-2. Last time the teams met was in Huntington, West Virginia in 2024 that saw Marshall win the first two games of the three-game set. Only previous matchup met in San Marcos in 2023 with the Bobcats sweeping the series.
