BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas State women's golf team wrapped up its final tournament ahead of the Sun Belt Conference Championship by finishing sixth at the 22nd "Mo" Morial hosted by Texas A&M at Traditions Club. Freshman
Grace Quintanilla posted her best round of the tournament Wednesday to lead the Bobcats.
Quintanilla (78-75-73--226) opened the front nine with three birdies to shoot 1-over and climbed 13 spots on the individual leaderboard to tie for 16th in the 84-player field at +10 for the tournament. In her first season, Quintanilla has seen action in nine of 10 tournaments, only missing the Ron West Intercollegiate for international duty with the Philippines, leading TXST in six.
Host and No. 3* Texas A&M won the tournament with No. 24 Baylor and No. 35 Missouri following in order. Top 50 squad Kansas, as well as Tulsa who sits just ahead of No. 53 TXST (305-306-305--916) in the rankings, placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
Briana LeMaire (72-81-77--230) and
Fia Lindblom (76-72-82--230) were two of three players tied at 31st after 54 holes, while
Mana Hersperger (84-78-76--238) and
Yvonne Chamness (79-83-79--241) rounded out the Bobcat lineup finishing tied for 53rd and tied for 66th, respectively. Lindblom also led the field with 13 birdies.
TXST returns to the course April 20-23 for its final Sun Belt Conference Championship. The event features three rounds of stroke play at The Lakewood Golf Club in Point Clear, Alabama, with the top four teams advancing to match play semifinals.
