Bobcats Post Nation Leading Marks on Day Two of Bobcat Invitational

SAN MARCOS, Texas— Texas State track and field closed out day two of the Bobcat Invitational with dominant performances across the multi-events, jumps and sprints.

Senior Easton Hammond delivered a historic performance in the decathlon, winning the event with 7,823 points to set both a meet and facility record while taking over the nation's top mark. 

Hammond secured event wins in the long jump (7.09m), high jump (2.08m), pole vault (4.90m), javelin (54.00m) and 1500m (4:26.10).

On the women's side, Sophie Daugard claimed the heptathlon title with a school-record 5,537 points. 

Daugard recorded a first-place finish in the javelin (43.48m) and added three runner-up finishes in the shot put (12.93m), long jump (6.00m) and 800m (2:25.55).

Bostyn Baskin added a third-place finish with 5,202 points, highlighted by event wins in the high jump (1.66m) and 800m (2:24.30).

In the field events, Sophia Haberer led a strong showing in the women's shot put, capturing first place with a mark of 16.13m. 

Hannah Kemele followed with a second-place finish at 14.91m, while Adam Carter secured a third-place finish in the men's shot put with a throw of 17.37m.

Aiden Hayes opened his outdoor campaign in the men's high jump with a winning clearance of 2.22m. The mark ranks No. 1 in the nation and set both a meet and facility record. 

Tshephang Dankuru placed second at 2.16m to complete a one-two finish for the Bobcats.

On the track, Paige Archer captured first place in the women's 200 meters with a time of 23.43, while Drew Donley added a runner-up finish in the men's 200 meters at 20.65.

Texas State also dominated the men's 400-meter hurdles, led by Ja'Shaun Lloyd's first-place finish in 51.65, followed by Mihajlo Katanic in second at 52.59.

Kendall Lemm added a third-place finish in the women's high jump, clearing 1.71m.

Texas State will close out the Bobcat Invitational Sunday morning, beginning with the men's hammer throw at 9 a.m.
