Bobcats Posts Multiple Event Titles, Nation-Leading Marks at UTSA Invitational

SAN ANTONIO, Texas— Texas State track and field wrapped up competition at the UTSA Invitational on Saturday with a strong all-around performance, highlighted by multiple event titles and podium finishes at the Park West Athletic Complex.

"Saturday produced several solid regional qualifying marks for our team," said Head Coach John Frazier. "Our focus now is building on that start, continuing to improve, and striving for excellence in every area."

The Bobcats were led by standout performances in the hurdles and field events. Ja'Shaun Lloyd had a dominant day, winning both the men's 110m hurdles (13.62) and the men's 400m hurdles (51.36). 

Texas State added another podium finish in the 110m hurdles as Joshua Taylor finished second (13.81) and Arveyon Davis placed fourth (14.04).

In the men's discus, Danie Strooh claimed the event title with a mark of 58.71m, while the Bobcats placed three additional throwers inside the top 11. 

On the women's side, Cassandra Rendon continued her strong debut weekend, taking second in the discus at 51.94m, the top mark in the Sun Belt this season.

Texas State also found success in the jumps, as Kennedy Jacquet secured the women's triple jump title with a mark of 11.83m. 

In the men's triple jump, Christian Soungie placed fifth (14.58m), followed by Damacio Hooks in seventh (14.35m).

On the track, Victoria Amiadamen captured first place in the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 59.53. 

The Bobcats also picked up a win in the men's relay events, as the 4x100m relay team of Bonner, Sheffield and the Lloyd duo finished first in 40.67.

In the sprints, Paige Archer led the women with a fifth-place finish in the 100m (11.36), while Aiden Sheffield paced the men with an eighth-place showing in 10.39.

Texas State added depth across distance and relay events, including a runner-up finish in the women's 4x400m relay (3:51.80) and a third-place finish in the men's 4x400m relay (3:17.21). 

In the women's 1500m, Alexia Macias recorded a top-five finish with a time of 4:32.51.

The Bobcats saw multiple top finishes in the pole vault, with Connor Skopik and Caden Ohara tying for fourth (4.95m).

In the vertical jumps, Bostyn Baskin led the women in the high jump with a tie for fourth (1.70m).

The Bobcats return to action next weekend when they host the Charles Austin Classic on March 27-28 at the Bobcat Track & Field Complex in San Marcos, Texas.
