SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State baseball team (6-2) travels this weekend to compete in the inaugural College Baseball Series in Cleburne, Texas this weekend. First up will be Abilene Christian (5-3) on Friday at 6 p.m. followed by a Saturday contest versus Tarleton State (5-3) at 6 p.m. Sunday's finale is set for a 3 p.m. first pitch against the Wildcats.

All three games will be broadcast on KTSW 89.9 FM while there will not be a video stream. Live stats will be available for all three contests.

Texas State is coming off a 7-2 win over I-35 rival UTSA on Tuesday night. Leading the way at the plate was
Clayton Namken with a 4-for-4 night that included hitting his first collegiate home run. It is the third time in the last four years that the Bobcats have won six of their first eight contests of a season.

Manny Salas leads the squad with a .417 batting average while scoring seven runs, hitting two doubles and stealing two bases. Also hitting over .400 is
Jaquae Stewart at .409. He has hit a two-high two home runs along with
Jackson Cotton and
Chase Mora. The Texas transfer also shares the team lead with eight RBI along with
Dawson Park.

Kyle Froehlich gets the ball on Friday and is 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA and 11 strikeouts over 8.2 innings.
Nolan Moore gets the ball on Saturday and has struck out nine in 10.0 innings while sporing a 0.90 ERA. Rounding out the weekend on the mound will be
Jesus Tovar, the reigning Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week. The left-hander has yet to allow a run in 13.0 innings and has punched out 12.

ABOUT ABILENE CHRISTIAN
ACU is coming off a series win at home over Oral Roberts. It was the Wildcats second series win of the season after also taking three of four from St. Thomas. They also dropped their lone midweek game of the season at Dallas Baptist.

Maddox Miesse is hitting a team best .474 with two homers and eight RBI. A team-high four round trippers have come from Diego Cardenas, who is batting .345 with 10 RBI. Also driving in 10 runs has been Zandt Payne (.290, 3 HR).

Slated to get the ball on Friday night is Brett Lanman. The left-hander is 0-1 with a 3.38 ERA and seven strikeouts in 8.0 innings. He has held opponents to a .226 batting average. Cade McGarrh will get the ball on Sunday as he enters the contest with a 1-0 record, 12.46 ERA and four punch outs in 4.1 innings.

This weekend will be the first-ever meeting between Abilene Christian and Texas State.

ABOUT TARLETON STATE
The Texans defeated UIW 17-5 in seven innings on Tuesday to rebound from a series loss at home to South Dakota State. They opened the year with a three-game sweep of Le Moyne before falling 3-1 at Globe Life Field to Arkansas.

Batting over .400 are Brady Englett (.423) and Slade McCloud (.407). Sergio Guerra leads the team with three home runs and 15 RBI while McCloud has gone 5-for-7 stealing bases.
