Future Pac-12 Members Meet This Weekend at Bobcat Ballpark

SAN MARCOS, Texas – A preview of a future Pac-12 Conference matchup takes place this weekend at Bobcat Ballpark when Texas State (3-1) hosts Gonzaga (1-3) for a three-game series. Friday's series opener is slated for a 6 p.m. first pitch followed by a 2:30 p.m. start on Saturday and the series finale begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
 
Only Friday's game will be streamed on ESPN+ while both Saturday and Sunday's contests will be broadcast on KTSW 89.9 FM. Live stats will be available for all three contests.

Friday: TXST RHP Kyle Froehlich (1-0) vs. GON TBA
Saturday: TXST LHP Nolan Moore (0-0) vs. GON TBA
Sunday: TXST LHP Jesus Tovar (1-0) vs. GON TBA
 
ABOUT TEXAS STATE
The Bobcats opened the season by winning all three games against Niagara, the program's fourth straight opening weekend sweep. Tuesday saw TXST fall at Baylor in the first midweek contest of the year.
 
Manny Salas paces the team with a .636 batting average while scoring five runs and driving in two. Chase Mora has hit a team-high two home runs and both he and Dawson Park have five RBI each. Leading the team with six RBI and two triples is Jaquae Stewart, who has scored six runs and plated six.
 
The trio of Tanner Carson, Austin Munguia and Clayton Namken are all hitting .400. Jackson Cotton comes in with a team leading five walks and two steals.
 
Kyle Froehlich, the reigning Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week, will get the ball for the second straight Friday night. He allowed just two hits and struck out eight on opening day. Saturday starter Nolan Moore punched out five in four frames last week. Rounding out the rotation is Jesus Tovar, who recorded six strikeouts in five shutout innings.
 
ABOUT GONZAGA
The Bulldogs opened the season with a four-game series at Hawaii that saw them drop three of the contests by a combined four runs. Gonzaga plays its first 21 games on the road with the home opener being on Mar. 24 against Washington State.
 
Noah Meffert comes in hitting a team best .421 (8-for-19) with two doubles and has scored four runs. Both Landon White and Ryder Young have a team-high three RBI. Tommy Eisenstat (.333) has recorded the squad's lone stolen base.
 
The rotation for the Bulldogs is still to be announced.
 
SERIES VS. BULLDOGS
Only once before have the teams met on the diamond. That came on Feb. 4, 2006 in Edinburg, Texas that saw Gonzaga win 8-4.
