SAN MARCOS, Texas – A big game in Strahan Arena will take place when the Texas State men's basketball team (15-11, 7-6 Sun Belt) hosts Sun Belt Conference leaders Troy (17-8, 9-3 Sun Belt) on Wednesday. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

About Texas State
The Bobcats enters the game on a four-game winning streak following a 16-point victory over Western Michigan in the MAC/SBC Challenge. The win improved Texas State to 13-1 at home this season, the most wins in Strahan Arena since 2021-22. In the conference standings, the Bobcats are tied for fifth with Coastal Carolina and are two-and-a-half games behind the Trojans.
DJ Hall enters the game leading the Sun Belt with a 54.5% mark from the field while also pacing the squad with 14.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. He has also recorded 59 assists, 36 steals and 10 blocks.
The only other Bobcat with a double-digit scoring average is Mark Drone at 13.8 ppg. The senior has made 43.6% of his shot attempts, knocked down 22 three-pointers and recorded 67 assists and 26 steals.
Kaden Gumbs leads the conference with 52 steals, which is tied for the 10 most in a season in Texas State history. The San Marcos native is contributing 9.0 ppg and 81 assists. Franck Emmou has knocked down a team leading 26 three-pointers having made 38.8% of his attempts from beyond the arc.
About Troy
Troy has won two straight with victories over Akron and Georgia State. When playing away from home, the Trojans are 9-5 overall, 8-4 in true road games and 4-1 in Sun Belt games.
All five starters head into Wednesday's game with a double-digit scoring average led by Victor Valdes at 15.5 ppg. Thomas Dowd is averaging a double-double of 14.9 ppg and 10.4 rpg along with blocking 31 shots. Theo Seng is netting 13.0 ppg with a team-high 50.9% shooting mark.
Both Cobi Campbell (59) and Cooper Campbell (50) have made at least 50 three-pointers. The duo is also putting up 10.1 and 12.7 ppg, respectively. Coo. Campbell (121) and Valdes (113) have over 100 assists apiece, as well.
Series History
Texas State holds a slim 12-11 advantage in the all-time series. The last two meetings have ended in Troy's favor with the most recent meeting being on Dec. 31, 2025 in Trojan Arena.
When playing in San Marcos, the Bobcats are 6-4 all-time. However, TXST has dropped four of the last five games at home with the lone win being an 82-79 overtime contest on Mar. 1, 2024.
