SAN MARCOS, Texas – The weekend wraps up for the Texas State men's basketball team (12-11, 5-6 Sun Belt) with a 1 p.m. tipoff on Saturday inside Strahan Arena against Old Dominion (7-15, 4-6 Sun Belt). It will be a Southwest Texas Throwback and Coaches vs. Cancer game.

About Texas State
Wednesday saw the Bobcats defeat Marshall, 72-68, for the first time in the regular season. The win was also the 100th in the career of head coach Terrence Johnson as he became just the fourth coach in program history to reach the victory century mark.
Mark Drone netted 17 points for the second straight contest to increase his scoring average to 14.0 points per game. The senior has made a team-high 22 three-pointers and is knocking down 79.2% of his free throws.
The only other Bobcat with a double-digit scoring average is DJ Hall at 13.7 ppg on 53.3% shooting, the third best mark in the Sun Belt Conference. He leads the team with 7.5 rebounds per game and is second with 52 assists and 29 steals.
Kaden Gumbs is handing out 3.5 assists per game and is contributing 8.8 ppg. He leads the league and ranks 16th in the nation with 49 steals.
About Old Dominion
The Monarchs are coming off a four-point win at Arkansas State on Wednesday. They improved to 3-11 in road games with the other two victories also coming in conference play against App State and Coastal Carolina.
Four players are averaging at least 10 points a game led by Ketron Shaw at 16.4. He has made 45.6% of his shots and connected on 70.4% of his free throw attempts. Jordan Battle is adding 13.7 ppg with 44 of his 78 made field goals coming from beyond the arc. LJ Thomas is chipping in 11.2 ppg while Robert Davis Jr., the Sun Belt's Preseason Player of the Year, is putting up 10.1 ppg with a team-high 50 made three-pointers.
Both Caelum Swanton-Rodger and Battel are grabbing a team-high 5.0 rpg. Battle also paces the squad with 61 assists and 33 steals while Swanton-Rodger enters with a team best 26 blocks.
Series History
Old Dominion holds a 3-2 edge in the all-time series and have won the last two meetings. The most recent being in the third round of the 2025 Sun Belt Tournament that ended 64-61.
Just once before have the teams met in San Marcos. That was the first-ever meeting on Feb. 11, 2023, that saw the Monarchs win 70-68 on a buzzer beating layup from Imo Essien.
Both of Texas State's victories have come in the conference tournament. The latest was an opening round contest in 2024 (92-83; OT) and the first was a 65-36 game in the 2023 quarterfinals.
