Men's and Women's Cross Country Finish Top Three at 2025 UIW Twilight

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Texas State opened the 2025 cross country season at the UIW Twilight on Friday night, with the women's team placing second overall in the 4K race with 49 points and the men's team finishing third in the 6K with 79 points.

These were the same results for the Bobcats as the 2024 UIW Twilight and marked the third consecutive year the men's team has finished inside the top three.

On the women's side, seven Bobcats placed inside the top 25 compared to three in 2024. Junior Alexia Tiscareno Macias led the way, coming in first place in the 4K with a time of 13:46, a significant improvement from her 2023 UIW Twilight 4K mark of 14:45.

She was joined by two other top-10 Bobcat finishers. Sophomore Nyomi Garcia placed fourth with a time of 14:08, and senior Abigail Parra came in seventh at 14:11, setting a personal best in the 4K by one second from last year's UIW Twilight.

For the men, Texas State's depth showed with six Bobcats finishing inside the top 25. Junior Jack Deelman paced the team with an 11th-place finish in 18:39.

Deelman was followed closely by senior Elias Palmer in 17th with a personal best of 18:55, and senior Anthony Parra in 20th with a time of 18:56, highlighting the Bobcats' strong pack running through the middle of the race.

Senior David Mendez-Serrato and junior Anthony Sandoval finished together in 23rd and 24th (both at 19:08), while sophomore David Herring secured 25th with a personal best of 19:14 to round out the team's top scorers.

The Texas State cross country teams will return to action in two weeks when they compete at the UIW Invitational on Sept. 12.
