SAN MARCOS, Texas – Following the conclusion of the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft on Monday, Texas State senior right-hander
Matthew Tippie signed an undrafted free agent deal with the New York Yankees.

In his two years in a Bobcat uniform, Tippie went 4-3 with two saves, a 4.11 ERA in 67.1 innings. He also recorded 100 strikeouts and limited opponents to a .209 batting average.

This past season, Tippie led the team with 73 punch outs that included three contests with a career-high six strikeouts. He picked up victories in back-to-back outings against Arkansas State and Coastal Carolina while his lone save of the year was a three-inning performance at Baylor.
