SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State junior right-handed pitcher
Carson Laws was chosen in the 14th round with the 408th overall pick by the Miami Marlins in the 2025 Major Leage Baseball Draft.

In Laws' lone season in the maroon and gold, he finished tied for second in the Sun Belt Conference with eight saves. His total tied for the fifth most in a season in Bobcat history and placed him in a tie for eighth on the program's career list.

The San Antonio native also went 4-1 with a 4.34 ERA and struck out 52 over 37.1 innings in 23 relief appearances. He also limited opponents to a .210 batting average.

In 15 of his outings, Laws recorded multiple strikeouts. He had a career-high six punch outs in 3.1 shutout frames and picked up the series clinching victory on Apr. 6 at Louisiana.

The right-hander is the second Bobcat chosen in this year's draft. He joins fellow pitcher
Bryson Dudley, who went in the seventh round to the Kansas City Royals. Laws in the third Texas State player selected by Miami with the most recent being Cam Baird in 2018.
