SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State women's basketball and Head Coach
Zenarae Antoine have signed South Alabama guard Amyria Walker ahead of the 2025-26 season, the team announced Sunday.
"Amyria absolutely LOVES basketball & it is most evident when you see her on the court," Antoine said. "She was a multi-sport athlete growing up and that has prepared her for the vigors of being a collegiate student-athlete. Myri's quickness, explosiveness and athleticism is top-tier, and it will immediately elevate our team. I'm thrilled to bring Amyria to our San Marcos & Texas State community."
Walker joins the Bobcats ahead of her senior season after spending her junior year at Sun Belt foe South Alabama, and Angelina and Blinn Junior College before that. During her time at South Alabama, Walker averaged 9.0 points a night while bringing down 55 rebounds, having 39 assists and 13 steals.Â
Â
Walker had 13 outings with double-digit points including a 30-point night against App State where she shot 9-15 and 5-10 from beyond the arc, while going a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line. She also had two 20+ point games last season, one against North Alabama and one against Arkansas State who would go on to win the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
Â
Before her time at South Alabama, Walker played one season at Angelina College where she averaged 19.8 points and 4.4 rebounds a game while shooting over 40% from the field and 33.8% from three. She and her team were named conference co-champions and Walker was named the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches JUCO Player of the Year. She was also named a WBCA All-American and Region XIV MVP.
Â
Walker will be returning home to the Lonestar State by joining the Bobcats, as a native of Burleson, Texas. She prepped at Burleson Centennial High School where she averaged 36 points a night and finished her career with over 1,600 points. She was both a basketball and track athlete in her time at Burleson.
Walker is the third transfer to join the Bobcats ahead of the 2025-26 season. She is among five newcomers Antoine has added to the program this fall, joining transfers Kyra Anderson and KP Parr and two incoming freshmen Kaliyah Murphy and Angela Carroll.
What they're saying about Walker:

Â
Coaching Amyria and watching her growth, both as a player and as a person, has been a true privilege. Her passion for the game shines through every time she steps on the court, and her commitment inspires everyone around her.
Â
I am thrilled to see Amyria take the next step in her journey as a Texas State Bobcat. I have no doubt that Texas State is the perfect place for her to flourish.Â

Welcome back to Texas, Amyria—we are so proud of you and can't wait to see all that you achieve! Go be great!"
Â
Bryon Coleman, Former Head Coach at Angelina College:Â "Amyria is a hard worker who lives in the gym. She is an athlete with a great 3pt shot, which makes her hard to stop when she gets going. Amyria helped Angelina College win its FIRST Regular Season Championship. Her competitive drive is one of the reasons we were able to accomplish this. Congrats Amyria on Texas State!"
