Bobcat Women's Basketball is Back in Strahan Arena on Monday

SAN MARCOS, Texas — Texas State women's basketball is officially back on Monday, Nov. 3 as the 2025-2026 season gets underway. The Bobcats first opponent will be Ohio as part of the third year of the MAC-SBC Challenge. The game is slated for a 7 pm tipoff inside Strahan Arena. Fans can purchase tickets at txst.com/tickets or tune in on ESPN+.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • This is just the second time Texas State will face Ohio in program history, the first in Strahan Arena.
  • The team's first meeting came on Feb. 10, 2024 where the Bobcats won 80-71 for head coach Zenarae Antoine's 200th career win.
 
HISTORY IN THE MAC-SBC CHALLENGE
  • Texas State is 3-1 all-time in the MAC-SBC Challenge since its first season in 2023-24.
  • The Bobcats will play two games in the MAC-SBC Challenge this season, beginning with this one versus the Ohio Bobcats. The second game's opponent will be determined in January based on NET rankings.
  • Texas State has prior wins vs Ohio, Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan in the MAC-SBC Challenge.
 
MEET THE ROSTER
  • The Freshmen: Texas State has added two freshmen, Angela Carroll and Kaliyah Murphy.
  • The Transfers: Texas State has added seven transfers, including three Division I transfers. 
  • The Returners: Antoine returns four members from 2024-2025 to this year's team.
    • Saniya Burks leads the returners for minutes played and points scored last year as she enters her sophomore season.
    • Taleiyah Gibbs played in 25 games for the Bobcats last season off the bench and returns for her junior season as well.
    • Also returning are Mia Galbraith who missed the year with an ACL injury, and Takeira Ramey who missed the latter half of last season with an ACL injury.
 
ABOUT THE (OHIO) BOBCATS
  • Ohio finished the 2024-2025 season with a 6-23 record, going 2-12 on the road that season.
  • The Bobcats are led by 12th year head coach Bob Bolden who has a 202-165 record in his tenure.
  • The Bobcats return their second leading scorer in 2024-25, Bailey Tabeling, who scored 361 points last season. She is also the team's leading returning rebounder. 
 
UP NEXT
  • Texas State will head on the road for a game at Big 12 foe Texas Tech on Nov. 9. That game will be at 2 pm and streamed on ESPN+. After that, the Bobcats will stay on the road for a game at UTSA on Nov. 13.
