SAN MARCOS, Texas – The last non-conference road game of the season sees Texas State (6-4) travel to Houston to take on Rice (3-6) on Wednesday night. Tipoff for the contest is scheduled for 8 p.m. from the Tudor Fieldhouse.

About Texas State
The Bobcats are looking for their first win away from Strahan Arena having dropped both road contests and the two games over Thanksgiving weekend in the Resorts World Classic. Wednesday is the lone non-conference road contest that TXST will play this season in the Lone Star State.

DJ Hall is coming off a 21-points, 12-rebound double-double, the first by a Texas State freshman in nine years. He leads the team with 12.6 points per game, 6.9 rebounds a contest and is shooting 59.3% from the field. The Plano, Texas native is also second on the squad with 26 assists and 16 steals that sees
Kaden Gumbs lead in each category with 40 assists and 19 steals.

Mark Drone is the only other Bobcats with a double-digit scoring average at 11.0 ppg. Both
Franck Emmou (8.2) and
Dimp Pernell (8.7) are averaging over eight points a game. In his first game of the season this past Saturday against Lehigh,
Ky Pernell scored nine points on 3-of-6 shooting in 12 minutes of action.

About Rice
The Owls enter the contest coming off a victory over Oral Roberts in the GEICO Coconut Hoops that was held in Fort Myers, Florida. The victory snapped four-game losing streak. At home, Rice is 2-2 with wins over the College of Biblical Studies and East Texas A&M while falling to Stephen F. Austin and Tarleton State.

Nick Anderson leads the team in scoring (15.7), made three-pointers (25), three-point percentage (47.2%) and free throw percentage (94.1%). Both Trae Broadnax (13.4) and Jalen Smith (12.4) are contributing over 10 points a game. Smith has knocked down 21 treys and Broadnax has made 13 attempts from beyond the arc.

Series History vs. Owls
The all-time series between the programs is tied 7-7. Texas State won the last meeting 75-66 in San Marcos on Dec. 8, 2024. It was the Bobcats' fourth win in the last five matchups.

On the road, TXST is 5-4 all-time. The Bobcats have won the last two contests in Houston with the most recent being on Nov. 30, 2021 that ended 80-69.
