SAN MARCOS, Texas – The first of five consecutive home games for the Texas State men's basketball team (1-2) will be played on Wednesday when I-35 rival UTSA (1-1) comes to town. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. from Strahan Arena.

The Bobcats look to get back into the win column after falling at Tulane by nine points on Saturday. Leading the way in the game was freshman
DJ Hall with 14 points and seven rebounds. Over the last 11 home games, TXST is 10-1 with the lone loss coming last year against UT Arlington.
Mark Drone leads the team offensively with 11.0 points per game, has made 12-of-24 (50.0%) shots and gone 4-for-8 (50.0%) from beyond the arc. Also with a double-digit scoring average is
Franck Emmou at 10.3 ppg. The redshirt sophomore has made 5-of-9 three-point attempts.
Dishing out 5.3 assists per game is
Kaden Gumbs while his 16 dimes are the second most in the Sun Belt Conference. The San Marcos native also paces the squad with seven steals. Both he and Hall are putting up 9.0 ppg. Contributing over seven points a contest are
Jaelyn Lee (7.3),
Dimp Pernell (8.3) and
Makai Willis (8.7).

The Roadrunners opened the season with a 97-30 win over the College of Biblical Studies and fell to SIUE, 77-60, on Friday. Wednesday is the first of two road games this week for UTSA as the team will also travel to take on Denver on Saturday.
Jamir Simpson leads the squad at 14.5 ppg and is grabbing 5.0 rpg. Averaging a double-double is Kaidon Rayfield with 11.5 ppg and 11.0 rpg. Of his 22 boards, half have come on the offensive glass. Dorian Hayes is adding 10.0 ppg with five of his made shots being three-pointers.
Series History
Wednesday marks the 64th meeting between the teams that see UTSA lead the all-time series 37-26. The Roadrunners have won six of the last nine matchups. Last time the teams met was on Nov. 17, 2023, in San Marcos. Texas State won 72-62 to improve to 13-17 at home in the series.
