SAN MARCOS, Texas – At its second meet of the season, the UIW Invitational, both the women's and men's Texas State cross country teams finished second overall. The women's team had five runners place inside the top 20 and tallied 52 points, while the men's squad had three athletes place in the top 20 and earned 71 total points. 
 
The women's squad was once again led by Abigail Parra, who finished third overall and set a new 5k PR of 18:05.4. Parra has placed fourth or better in both of her races this season. 
 
Joining Parra in the top 10 were freshman Nyomi Garcia and Junior Kristen Torres. Garcia placed 5^th overall and set her collegiate PR in the 5k, with a time of 18:22.8. Torres also set her PR in the 5k with a time of 18:29.4 and placed seventh overall. 
 
Finishing the UIW Invite in 17^th place was freshman Sanai Robinson. Robinson recorded a time of 18:6.1 and secured a top 20 finish for the second meet in a row. 
 
In her first race of the season, Alexia Tiscareno Macias placed 20^th overall and recorded a time of 19:01. The sophomore now has five top 20 finishes during her two-year career. 
 
The men's team had three athletes finish inside the top 20 at the UIW Invitational. Senior Koket Jimata once again led the Bobcats during the race and placed 11^th overall. Jimata set his PR in the 4 mile with a time of 19:56.1. 
 
Freshman Henok Hagos finished three spots behind Jimata in 14^th place. The freshman set his collegiate PR in the four mile with a time of 20:03.4. 
 
In his second race as a Bobcat, Junior Anthony Parra placed 18^th overall and recorded a PR time of 20:18 in the four-mile race. 
 
Texas State's Jack Deelman and Anthony Sandoval both finished right outside the top 20 at the UIW Invite. Deelman finished in 20:25.9 and took 21^st, while Sandoval placed 22^nd with a time of 20:27.2. 
 
The Bobcats have a two-week break, before they head to Grand Prairie, Texas to compete at the Old Glory Gallop Invite on October 5^th. The Old Glory Gallop is hosted by Dallas Baptist University and the meet begins at 8:15 a.m. CT.
