SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State freshman midfielder
Helen Alormenu has been named to Ghana's roster for the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup that will take place in Columbia.
Alormenu is the first Bobcat ever to compete in the tournament. She joins is the third current or former TXST player to represent her country at an international tournament, joining sophomore midfielder
Victoria Meza and alumnus Juana Plata as they both played on the El Salvador team in the inaugural CONCACAF W Gold Cup this past summer.
Ghana was drawn into Group E of the tournament and will play their opening match on Sept. 2 against Austria. The Black Princesses will also take on Japan (Sept. 5) and New Zealand (Sept. 8).
The top two teams from each group will advance to the round of 16, along with the four best third-place teams. The tournament's final is scheduled to take place on Sept. 22 in Bogotá, the nation's capital.
