EUGENE, Ore – On day one of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, the Texas State men's 4x100 relay team consisting of
Shedrack Akpeki,
Daniel Harrold,
Shawn Collins and
Dominick Yancy ran 39.51, which is the fourth-best time in school history.Â

The relay team placed 15th overall, which marked the best finish in the National Championship by a men's 4x100 relay team in school history. They missed qualifying for the finals on Friday by just six spots

This is the second time this season the relay team of Akpeki, Harrold, Collins and Yancy have entered the Texas State record books, with the first time being their PR time of 39.48 that they recorded at the NCAA West Prelims.Â

Six Bobcats from the women's team will take the stage tomorrow on day two of the National Championships.
Elisabet Runarsdottir and
Lara Roberts will compete in the women's hammer throw at 5 p.m. CT, while the women's 4x100m relay made of
Kaylee Lewis,
Ma'Khi Falkquay,
Kerris Roberts and
Taejha Badal will compete at 7:32 p.m. CT.Â
