FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Texas State's
Daniel Harrold (110m hurdles),
Dominick Yancy (200m)Â and
Shawn Collins (100m and 200m), all qualified for the quarterfinals of their respective events on the first day of the NCAA West Prelims.Â

Daniel Harrold qualified for the quarterfinals after tying the third-fastest time in school history in the 110m hurdles. Harrold recorded a 13.64 in the event and placed 15th overall.

This marks the third consecutive season he has qualified for the quarterfinals in the 110m hurdles at the NCAA West Prelims.Â

Shawn Collins qualified for Friday's round in both the 100 meters and the 200 meters. In the 100 meters, Collins tied the second-fastest time in school history for the men's 100 meters. He recorded a 10.29 and placed 13th overall, which qualified him for the quarterfinals round on Friday.

By placing in the top 12 of the quarterfinals on Friday, he would become the first Texas State athlete in history to qualify for the National Championship in the 100 meters.Â

In the 200 meters, he qualified after he placed 15th and recorded a 20.69, which is his second-best time this season.Â
Â
Joining Collins in the quarterfinals of the 200m will be
Dominick Yancy, who placed 18th overall and recorded a time of 20.72. Yancy will compete in the quarterfinals for the second time in his career, after making the quarterfinals for the 400m in 2022.

Chris Preddie missed making his return to the National Championships in the men's long jump after he placed 14th in the event with a mark of 7.67m/25-2. Preddie was 1.25 inches away from finishing in 12th and making his second career trip to Nationals.Â

Despite not making it in the long jump, he still has a chance to qualify for the National Championships in the triple jump. He will compete in the event on Friday at 6 pm.Â

Thursday's Weather UpdateÂ
Due to forecasted storms Thursday afternoon, all the events tomorrow have been pushed up to an earlier time. Field events will start one and a half hours earlier then their previously scheduled time and running events have been pushed up by three hours.Â

Thursday will begin with the women's hammer throw, which will feature two Bobcats in the third flight of the event.
Elisabet Runarsdottir and
Lara Roberts, who are both ranked in the top 10 of the West Region, will compete for one of the 12 national championship spots available.Â

The running events will kick off with the women's 100m hurdles, which features Texas State's
Kerrington Johnson, at 3 pm and will end with the women's 10k at 6:10 pm.Â
