SAN MARCOS, Texas – Twenty athletes from the Texas State track and field team qualified for the 2024 NCAA West Prelims in Fayetteville, Ark., the NCAA announced on Thursday. The Bobcats will compete in 16 different events throughout the four-day competition that takes place May 22-25.
 
Texas State will have 15 athletes competing in individual events and three relay teams competing as well. 
 
Twelve of the athletes competing for Texas State are multi-time qualifiers for the regional meet. Kerrington Johnson will be competing in the preliminary round for the fourth time in her career. Johnson qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Round three times while she was at Wofford. 
 
Five Bobcats will be competing in the postseason event for the third time, including Dominick Yancy, Daniel Harrold, Shawn Collins, Brian West and Kerris Roberts. 
 
Easton Hammond is the only freshman Bobcat to qualify for the preliminary round. Hammond will be competing in the men's high jump and is ranked No. 37 coming into the meet.

Texas State enters the meet with five athletes ranked in the top-10 of the West Region. Elisabet Runarsdottir is ranked No. 1 in the women's hammer throw and her teammate Lara Roberts sits a few spots behind her at No. 8. 
 
Daniel Harrold comes into the meet ranked fifth in the 110m hurdles and fellow sprinter Dominick Yancy is ranked No. 8 in the 200 meters. The last Bobcat ranked in the top-10 is Chris Preddie, who is ranked fifth in the men's long jump.
