SAN MARCOS, Texas— Texas State track and field alumni Kason O'Riley and Aiden Hayes will represent the Bobcats at the 2026 Toyota USATF Outdoor & Para National Championships at Icahn Stadium in New York.

The USATF Outdoor championships will be held July 23-26. The former Bobcats will compete in the men's high jump Friday at 5:45 p.m. ET. Live coverage will be available on USATF.TV, Peacock and NBCSN as part of Friday's broadcast schedule. 

Texas State track & field associate head coach and jumps specialist Kendall Filip is excited to see two of her athletes compete on the national stage.

"I'm excited to have Kason and Aiden in yet another USA championship meet," Filip said. "They continue to prove that Texas State athletes belong at the highest level of the sport. They will be right in the mix this weekend and are prepared to hopefully bring home some more medals."

O'Riley and Hayes are two of the most accomplished high jumpers in Texas State history. They share the second-best clearance in program history with marks of 2.25 meters (7 feet, 4½ inches).

The pair trails only Olympic gold medalist and American record holder Charles Austin, who set the Texas State record of 2.35 meters (7-8½) in 1990. Austin established the American record of 2.40 meters (7-10½) the following year.

O'Riley and Hayes solidified themselves on the national stage at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships, tying for second after each cleared 2.20 meters (7-2½). Both earned silver medals and NCAA First-Team All-America honors.

The duo also competed at the 2025 USATF Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon. O'Riley placed sixth with a clearance of 2.17 meters (7-1½), while Hayes finished one position behind in seventh after clearing the same height.

Hayes concluded his collegiate career last month at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships, placing ninth with a clearance of 2.16 meters (7-1) to earn NCAA Second-Team All-America honors.

O'Riley completed his collegiate career with his runner-up finish at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships. He has since competed professionally for Adidas and internationally on the World Athletics Continental Tour.
