SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State women's basketball head coach
Zenarae Antoine announced Sunday the addition of Oklahoma State transfer Mia Galbraith to her 2024-25 signing class.
Galbraith is a guard originally from Sunshine Coast, Australia, but spent her high school career just up I-35 from Texas State at Lake Travis High School. She spent her first season of college basketball at Oklahoma State, where she will join the Bobcats from as a transfer. She joins the Bobcats with three remaining years of eligibility and brings a dynamic ability to score while also contributing on the defensive side of the ball with her strong ability to rebound.
"Mia's athletic ability to score off the bounce and her mid-range game will be an asset to our offense and her length & ability to rebound will aid us on defense," Antoine said.
Prior to her time at Oklahoma State, Galbraith was a stand-out out of Lake Travis High School. In her preps career she was a McDonald's All-American nominee, TGCA All-State and named to First-Team All District. She scored over 1,500 points and 550 rebounds in her high school career.
"Mia is driven to be her best and it is evident by the confidence she carries from the work she puts into her day-to-day life," Antoine said. "The work ethic that Mia has will impact our program in a positive direction."
Galbraith is the third transfer to join the Bobcats ahead of the 2024-25 season, totaling a group of seven incoming players for next season. She is joined by Bucknell transfer Blake Matthews, Incarnate Word transfer Destiny Terrell, and four freshmen, Saniya Burks, Heather Baymon, Takeira Ramey and Melinda Winston.
What they're saying about Galbraith:
Head Women's Basketball Coach at Lake Travis High School Kevin Bussinger: "I am so excited! I expect her to do great things there! I love that she will be so close, and I can get to her games!"
Head Girl's Basketball Coach at Lake Travis Middle School Kayla Abrams: "When I learned that Mia signed at Texas State, I could not have been prouder of her decision! She is a difference-maker on and off the court. She has been that kid and leader that everyone buys into since she was in middle school. Mia changed the way women's basketball was played and viewed at Lake Travis & had our community excited to watch women's basketball again. Mia sets the bar high and isn't afraid to do the hard things. I cannot wait to see what energy she brings to this Texas State program. "
Owner of Ball-Hard Player Development L.L.C. in Austin, Texas Sean Hardeman: "Mia is a great individual and a great talent. She will bring great energy to the Bobcat Nation. We are excited Mia is now playing close to home. It has been such a pleasure working with her on her game. We cannot wait to see what this upcoming season has in store for her."
