LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas State women's basketball battled on the road at Texas Tech but fell 83-50 on Sunday afternoon.
Highlighting the game for the Bobcats, though, was a double-digit night for
Mia Galbraith as she had 15 alongside 11 points from
Kyra Anderson and 10 from
Saniya Burks. The two combined for 36 of the Bobcats points tonight.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The opening quarter was close between the two sides. Despite Texas Tech shooting effectively at 6-12 from the field and a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line, Texas State was able to keep it it close. After the first quarter Texas State trailed 20-15 despite four points apiece from Burks and
Kyra Anderson.
The second quarter was similar, with the Bobcats hanging close through most of the way. It was only the final three minutes of second quarter when the Bobcats were held scoreless that Texas Tech was able to go on a run and make the score 50-30 at the halftime break. Galbraith led the Bobcats with 11 points through the first half after a nine-point second quarter on 4-7 shooting.
Out of the halftime break, Burks shooting 3-5 from the field helped her get six points to get her second-consecutive double-digit night to start the year. Despite the team's shooting improving, Texas Tech was able to expand their lead to 25
.
The Red Raiders were able to widen the gap in the fourth quarter as the Bobcats struggled to find their shots.
Kyra Anderson was able to tally seven points on her own in the fourth quarter. Despite that, though, Texas Tech went on to win 83-50.
