SAN MARCOS, Texas – Daniel Harrold and Dominick Yancy are set to compete at the 2024 NCAA Indoor National Championships on Friday in Boston, Massachusetts. This marks the first time since 2015 that two male athletes form Texas State will be competing at the indoor national championships.Â
Harrold will compete in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles at 4:05 p.m. (CT) on Friday and is the first Texas State athlete in history to qualify for the 60-meter hurdles at the indoor national championships. Â
Harrold looks to continue his dominating indoor season, where he was named the Sun Belt Track Performer of the Year, won the Sun Belt individual championship in the 60-meter hurdles, and broke the Texas State and Sun Belt Conference records in the event.Â
He is currently tied for seventh in the nation in hurdles heading into the prelims. To qualify for the finals, Harrold must finish top-two in his heat or have one of the next four fastest times overall.Â
Yancy will compete in both the 200 meters and the 400 meters on Friday evening. He will be the first male Bobcat to compete in multiple events at the indoor national championships since Brian Veal in 2004. Â
Yancy enters the final indoor meet of the season after winning his second consecutive conference title in the 200 meters and being named the High Point Scorer at the Sun Belt Championships with 20.5 points. Â
His first race on Friday is the prelims of the 400 meters that starts at 3:30 p.m. He will compete again at 4:40 p.m. in the 200 meters prelims. Â
Harrold and Yancy are the first pair of Texas State sprinters/hurdlers since 1999 to compete at NCAA indoors.Â
