SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The Texas State track and field team finished day two of the UTSA Invitational on Saturday and recorded five top-three finishes. In total, the Bobcats recorded 13 top-three finishes during the meet.
Chris Preddie was back to his winning ways in his first outdoor meet of the season. Preddie won the men's long jump with a mark of 7.62m/25-0.
Aiden Hayes was the other member of the men's jump squad to earn a podium spot at the meet. Hayes placed second in the men's high jump with a jump of 2.08m/6-10
The women's throw squad continued their impressive performance on the second day of the meet in the women's discus throw. Utitofon Sam took home first place with a mark of 50.46m/165-7 and her teammate Carly Watts placed second with a mark 47.90m/157-2.
The women's throw squad took home first place in all three throwing events.
Freshman Precious Okougbodu made her outdoor debut for the Bobcats on Saturday and placed second in the women's triple jump with a mark of 11.49m/39-2.
The whole Texas State track and field team will be in action next week, as the Bobcats will hold the Charles Austin Classic. The two-day meet takes place on Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23.
