SAN MARCOS, Texas – After playing its last four games in the friendly confines of Strahan Arena, the Texas State men's basketball team (11-14, 4-8 Sun Belt) hits the road against for the first of four straight contests on the road. Starting it off will be a matchup with South Alabama (12-13, 4-8 Sun Belt) on Thursday with tip scheduled for 7 p.m. from inside the Mitchel Center.

About Texas State
The Bobcats enter Thursday on a season best four-game winning streak after defeating Ball State on Saturday in the MAC-SBC Challenge. It is also the team's longest winning streak since claiming nine consecutive games from Jan. 29-Feb 25, 2022.
Ever since
Davion Sykes entered the starting lineup at the beginning of the month, he has been a force to deal with for opposing teams. The sophomore is averaging a double-double of 14.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game while going 25-for-44 (56.8%) from the floor in that time.
Overall,
Jordan Mason continues to lead the team at 12.6 ppg and making a team best 76.5% of his free throws. The sophomore is second on the team with 56 assists and 25 steals.
Brandon Love enters the game putting up 10.7 ppg and grabbing 5.8 rpg. He has blocked 42 shots, which ranks fourth in the Sun Belt and is tied for the fifth most by a TXST player in a season.
Kaden Gumbs is dishing out 3.5 assists a contest, which ranks # in the conference. His 29 steals and 55 made three throws also leads the Bobcats while he is netting 9.3 ppg.
Both
Coleton Benson and
Dylan Dawson are threats from beyond the arc. Benson has knocked down 24 three-pointers at a team-high 42.9% mark. Dawson is shooting 33.6% from deep with a team best 42 made triples.
About South Alabama
After dropping four straight contests, the Jaguars won both games last weekend at home over Georgia Southern and Northern Illinois. Thursday is the third of four consecutive home games for them where USA is 8-5 this season and but just 1-4 against Sun Belt opponents.
Isiah Gaiter leads the team with 14.0 ppg and an 82.9% at the charity stripe. The senior guard has made 26 three-pointers, recorded 49 assists and 28 steals. Also with a double-digit scoring mark is Tyrell Jones (13.1) while posting team highs of 41 made treys, 94 made free throws and 37 steals.
Samuel Tabe is netting 9.4 ppg and is shooting a team-high 49.0% from the field. Marcus Millender (8.6 ppg) leads the squad with 79 assists, Julian Margrave (7.3 ppg) is shooting a team-high 40.0% on three-pointers and Thomas Howell (7.0 ppg) paces the Jaguars with 6.2 rpg and 16 blocks.
All-Time Series vs. Jaguars
Texas State leads the all-time series 11-5 after defeating South Alabama 74-66 in San Marcos on the first of the month. The Bobcats look to win their second straight in Mobile after winning 64-58 last season. All-time, TXST is 3-4 when playing the Jaguars on the road and a victory would be the Bobcats' first season sweep of the series since 2016.
