SAN MARCOS, Texas – A record-tying three Texas State soccer student-athletes were named to a United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region team on Tuesday.
Mady Soumare was a second team honoree and both
Kennley Bradley and
Victoria Meza were chosen to the third team.
The only other time that the Bobcats had three all-region selections was in 2017. Last time the program had an all-region pick was in 2022 when Juana Plata was chosen to the All-Southeast second team.
Overall, the Sun Belt Conference had 14 all-region picks. Texas State's three selections were tied for the most alongside James Madison and South Alabama.
Soumare continues to add to her accolades this season after leading the team with nine goals, six assists, 24 points and three match-winning goals, all of which ranked in the top 10 in the conference. Her performance earned her All-Sun Belt Conference First Team and Sun Belt All-Tournament Team honors as well as picking up the league's Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 3. The Parisian earned her second College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team accolade in her career, too.
Bradley helped TXST record nine shutouts this season as she anchored the backline. The Ogden, Utah native played a team-high 1,868 minutes that ranks as the fourth most ever by a Bobcat field player. She totaled one goal and two assists on the year with all coming against Sun Belt opponents. Her performance on the field saw her be named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team and Sun Belt All-Tournament Team.
Meza finished her second year in a Texas State uniform with five goals and two assists. Two of her goals were match-winners with the first coming against Marshall and the second versus ULM late in the 83rd minute. She led the team with 47 shot attempts while playing 1,726 minutes in the midfield.
