EDINBURG, Texas — Texas State women's basketball will return to the road for a game with in-state foe UTRGV on Saturday afternoon.
The game will tip off at 2 pm with a stream on ESPN+.
SERIES HISTORY
• Texas State has a 23-4 record all-time against UTRGV.
• Texas State won the last meeting between the teams on Nov. 17, 2023 by a 66-63 scoreline.
• In Edinburg, Texas State is 10-2 all-time.
• The Bobcats last loss in Edinburg was in 2006 when the Bobcats lost 61-51.
MEET THE ROSTER
- The Freshmen: Texas State has added four freshman, Heather Baymon, Saniya Burks, Takeira Ramey, and Melinda Winston.
- Three of the four freshmen played high school basketball in the state of Texas (Burks, Baymon, Winston) while Ramey is the lone freshman coming from out of state.
- All four freshman have seen minutes and scored this season. Burks started in the season opener versus Eastern Michigan.
- The Transfers: Texas State has added six transfers, including five Division I transfers.
- The Returners: Antoine returns five members from 2023-2024 to this year's team.
THE BOBCAT BENCH:
- Texas State is currently ranked No. 24 in the nation for its average of 32.8 bench points a night. The Bobcats have outscored their opponent's bench in three of their five games this season.
ABOUT THE VAQUEROS
- UTRGV finished the 2023-24 season with a 6-23 record, going 5-15 in conference play.
- They are currently 3-3 this season with wins over Houston, Arlington Baptist and St. Mary's.
- The Vaqueros are led by 7th year head coach Lane Lord, who has a 303-211 record in his career and a 72-109 record at UTRGV.
- The Vaqueros leading scorer is Kade Hackerott who has 92 points so far this season for an average of 15.3 per game. Charlotte O'Keefe leads the rebounding with 10.2 a night and 61 on the season.
