Wells Claims Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week Honors

NEW ORLEANS – A career best performance on the rubber in the series opener against Marshall resulted in Texas State's Levi Wells being named the Sun Belt Conference's Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday.

It is the second time this season that the right-hander has earned the honor. In his career, Wells has been chosen as the league's Pitcher of the Week four times and is the most ever by a Bobcat hurler.

Friday saw the La Porte, Texas native set a career-high with 13 strikeouts in the complete game victory. His strikeout total is tied for the most by a Sun Belt pitcher this season. He is also the first TXST player to punch out 13 in a game since Carson Smith did so against McNeese on Apr. 29, 2011.

Well's complete game was the second in his career. He is the first Bobcat to have multiple career complete games since Hunter McMahon had two in his lone season with the program in 2019.

Texas State is in action tonight against I-35 rival and 25-ranked UTSA. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. in San Antonio from Roadrunner Field.
