STILLWATER, Okla. — Texas State women's basketball is set for its first out of state match up of the 2023-24 season as they had to Stillwater for a date with the Oklahoma State Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls have the advantage in the history of this series with five wins in the seven games. The Bobcats last win came in 2005 when the 'Cats won 77-69. These two sides haven't met since 2018.

MEET THE ROSTER
- Timia Jefferson has become a big part of the Bobcats offense after sitting out a season due to NCAA transfer rules that found her ineligible for her first year as a Bobcat. She's averaging 10.8 points and 5.4 rebounds a night. She's nearing in on her 1000th career point with 956 so far.
- Ja'Niah Henson comes to Texas State after four years at Morgan State. She's averaging 13.6 points per game through the first four games of the season, the most of any Bobcat. In the Bobcats game against Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, she scored her 1000th career point.
- Gara Beth Self transferred to Texas State after playing four years for conference-foe ULM. The Bobcats also brought in Western Kentucky transfer Jaylin Foster. Both have started all five games of the Bobcats season so far.
- Tiffany Tullis and Crystal Smith join the Bobcats after two years at Blinn Junior College where the pair reached the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship tournament.
- Among the returners are seniors Sierra Dickson, Nicole Leff and Morgan Hill. Additionally, sophomore Kennedy Claybrooks. Leff and Dickson are the only four-year seniors in the program this year. The Bobcats also have two freshman, Julia Coleman and Emillia Steele.
ABOUT THE COWGIRLS
- The Cowgirls are 4-3 so far this season with wins against SIUE, New Orleans, Missouri State, and Wyoming.
- Leading the way for the Cowgirls is head coach Jacie Hoyt who is in her second season with the program after leading the team to a 20+ win season in her first year in 2022-23.
- Anna Gret Asi leads the Cowgirls in scoring this year as she averaged 15.1 points per night. Stailee Heard also averaged 14.7 points per night.
- Leading the team in rebounding is also Stailee Heard who averaged 6.6 boards a night. Chandler Prater is good for six boards a night of her own, too.
- Lior Garzon is the Cowgirls' best three-point shooter as she averages 2.7 three's a night.
UPCOMING MILESTONES
- Graduate Timia Jefferson is also nearing in on the 1,000 point club. The Houston Christian transfer had 902 points in three years for HCU where she averaged 12.5 points per game in her 72 appearances. She now has 971 points in six games with the Bobcats.
EARLY RANKINGS
- Tiffany Tullis is currently ranked No. 3 in the Sun Belt Conference for rebounds with 69.
- Tullis also is No. 3 in the conference and 32nd in the nation for rebounds per game as she averages 9.9 a night.
- Ja'Niah Henson is third in the conference and 79th in the nation for her 86.4% accuracy from the free throw line.
WHATS ON THE HORIZON?
- The Bobcats will begin Sun Belt Conference play on Dec. 30 versus Georgia Southern.
- Following this weekends' game with Oklahoma State, the Bobcats will close its home non-conference slate by hosting Denver on Dec. 14.
- To close the non-conference slate, the Bobcats will participate in the Florida International Christmas Tournament from Dec. 18-20. The Bobcats will see FIU, Chicago State and Alabama A&M in that tournament.
Up next the Bobcats will return home for its game with Denver on Dec. 14. This will be the final home game of non-conference play before the Bobcats go to FIU. Following the holiday tournament, the Bobcats will begin conference play on Dec. 30 versus Georgia Southern.
