Women's Basketball to Begin Four Game Homestand on Wednesday vs UNT Dallas

SAN MARCOS, Texas — Texas State women's basketball is back in Strahan Arena for their first of four straight home games starting with UNT Dallas on December 10th at 5 pm. 
 
SERIES HISTORY VS UNT DALLAS
  • Texas State is 3-0 all-time against UNT Dallas.
  • Last season, Texas State won 88-42 on Dec. 8 in Strahan Arena.
  • In 2023, Texas Staert won 79-41 and in 2022 the Bobcats won 58-39.
 ABOUT THE TRAILBLAZERS
  • UNT Dallas enters the weekend with a 5-2 record, but the game against the Bobcats will not count on their record, the Trailblazers will count their match as an exhibition.
  • The Trailblazers are led by Otis Nicksion who is in his first season leading the program. He was promoted after being assistant coach in 2024-25. 
  • De'Asia Johnson leads the scoring for the Trailblazers with 13.8 points per game. She and ShanDrea Yeldell lead with Yeldell also having 13.8 points per game.
  • Johnson also contributes defensively with 8.2 rebounds a night. Allysa Pendley averages 7.4.
MEET THE BOBCATS
  • The Freshmen: Texas State has added two freshmen, Angela Carroll and Kaliyah Murphy.
  • The Transfers: Texas State has added seven transfers, including three Division I transfers. 
  • The Returners: Antoine returns four members from 2024-2025 to this year's team.
    • Saniya Burks leads the returners for minutes played and points scored last year as she enters her sophomore season. She started the season with a nations-best 34 points against Ohio and has double digits in six of eight games so far this season.
    • Taleiyah Gibbs played in 25 games for the Bobcats last season off the bench and returns for her junior season as well.
    • Also returning are Mia Galbraith who missed the year with an ACL injury, and Takeira Ramey who missed the latter half of last season with an ACL injury.
UP NEXT
  • The Bobcats will continue the homestand on Dec. 17 against Louisiana to open up Sun Belt action. That game will be part of a double header with Texas State men's basketball who hosts Arkansas State that evening. The women's game will begin at 5 pm with the men to follow.
