Women's Basketball Opens up Conference Play

SAN MARCOS, Texas — Texas State women's basketball starts conference play in Strahan Arena this week, with games against Louisiana and ULM.
 
Texas State will start out with Louisiana on Dec. 17 at 5 pm, then the ULM Warhawks will come to town on Dec. 20 at 12 pm. Fans can purchase tickets at txst.com/tickets or tune in on ESPN+.
 
Both games will be part of doubleheaders with Texas State men's basketball who play Arkansas State on the 17th and South Alabama on the 20th. 
 
SERIES HISTORY VS LOUISIANA
  • Texas State is 12-19 all-time against Louisiana.
  • Last season, Texas State won 69-58 in the last meeting between the two teams on Feb. 19, 2025. 
  • Texas State has won three of the last 10 meeting between the two teams.
 ABOUT THE RAGIN CAJUNS
  • Louisiana enters the week with an 0-9 record on the year. 
  • The Ragin Cajuns are led by Garry Broadhead who is in his 14th season leading the program. He has a 215-190 record in his tenure. 
  • Mikaylah Manley leads the scoring for the Trailblazers with 11.67 points per game. Amijah Price also contributes 11.11 points per night.
  • Imani Daniel contributes defensively with 6.22 rebounds a night. Price also contributes 5.22 rebounds a night.
SERIES HISTORY VS ULM
  • Texas State is 30-35 all-time against ULM.
  • Texas State won the last meeting between the two teams 67-64 on Feb. 1, 2025.
  • Texas State has won eight of the last 10 meetings between the two teams.
 ABOUT THE WARHAWKS
  • ULM enters the weekend with a 5-4 record but on a three game losing streak after games against Mississippi State, Indiana and Alabama.
  • ULM is led by head coach Scotty Fletcher who is in his first season at the helm of the program. 
  • J'Mani Ingram leads the scoring for the Warhawks, their lone player averaging double digits. She's averaging 10.11 points per night.
  • Defensively, Marcavia Shavers leads with 6.89 rebounds per night.
  • ULM will face Arkansas State prior to the game against the Bobcats. 
 
ABOUT THE BOBCATS
  • The Freshmen: Texas State has added two freshmen, Angela Carroll and Kaliyah Murphy.
  • The Transfers: Texas State has added seven transfers, including three Division I transfers. 
  • The Returners: Antoine returns four members from 2024-2025 to this year's team.
    • Saniya Burks leads the returners for minutes played and points scored last year as she enters her sophomore season. She started the season with a nations-best 34 points against Ohio and has double digits in six of nine games so far this season.
    • Taleiyah Gibbs played in 25 games for the Bobcats last season off the bench and returns for her junior season as well.
    • Also returning are Mia Galbraith who missed the year with an ACL injury, and Takeira Ramey who missed the latter half of last season with an ACL injury.

  • The Bobcats will close out their four-game homestand after the holiday break on Dec. 29 at 7 pm versus Huston-Tillotson. That game will also be streamed on ESPN+ or fans can purchase tickets at txst.com/tickets.
