SAN MARCOS, Texas – Taleiyah Gibbs tallied a career high 14 points against the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns as one of two Bobcats in double-digits to start off conference play 1-0.

Saniya Burks led the team with 16 points in the game to help Texas State to a 62-55 win over Louisiana on Wednesday night.
Kyra Anderson led both sides with 11 points that she paired with eight points.
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
Both sides struggled to find a rhythm in the first quarter which resulted in end-to-end action and a tied 11-11 scoreline after the first quarter. Gibbs scored four of her points in the late stages of the first quarter to help the Bobcats draw the game level after 10 minutes of play.

The second quarter began to favor the Ragin' Cajuns slightly as they shot an efficient 6-12 to score 15 points. The visitors held a four-point lead at the end of the first half, despite another five points from Gibbs in the second quarter.
Mia Galbraith also shot 2-3 in the second quarter for four points to help Texas State maintain a two-possession game throughout the second quarter.

Our of the halftime break, though, Texas State battled to come back from a run by the Cajuns that helped them push out to a game-best eight-point lead. Texas State took a 35-27 deficit and went on an 12-4 run to tie the game at 39. It was a three-pointer from Gibbs and a second chance layup from Anderson that helped the Bobcats tie the game up. After three, the score was tied 39-39.

Texas State and Louisiana traded buckets in the early stages of the fourth quarter, until Burks came alive. Burks scored 14 of her 16 points in the final quarter to help Texas State outscore Louisiana 23-16 and win the game. Texas State had their largest lead of the match, nine points, with just 37 second to play in the game. Despite only leading for 4:03 of the game, Texas State turned it on at the right time to go on a run and win 62-55.

Texas State is now 4-6 on the season after today's game, and 1-0 in Sun Belt play.
