SAN MARCOS, Texas – The 2023-24 season for the Texas State men's basketball team begins at former Sun Belt Conference foe Little Rock on Monday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. from the Jack Stephens Center.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Dorian Craft and Patrick Newton on the call. Fans can also catch the game on the Varsity Sports Network with Clint Shields providing the action. Live stats will also be available.

The Bobcats are coming off a 16-win campaign that saw them win three games in the Sun Belt Tournament to reach the semifinals. The leading returners are fifth-year seniors
Drue Drinnon and
Tyrel Morgan. Also back from last year are junior
Brandon Love and sophomores
Jordan Mason and
Davion Sykes.
This year's roster features nine newcomers that features three Division I transfers, three junior college transfers and three high schoolers. Coming to San Marcos from other D1 programs are
Coleton Benson (Army West Point),
Chris Nix (UT Martin) and
Christian Turner. Both JUCO transfers
Joshua O'Garro (Oklahoma & San Jose State) and
Elijah Tate (UAB) also bring D1 experience.
About Little Rock
Last season, the Trojans finished 10-21 overall and 6-12 in their first year in the Ohio Valley Conference. DeAntoni Gordon is the team's top returner and was named to the All-OVC Preseason Team. The graduate forward posted 13.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 53.5% from the field.
Another key returner back is Jordan Jefferson. The junior guard averaged 8.0 ppg on 44.1% shooting and was 36-for-93 (34.0%) on three-point attempts.
Overall, LR returned four letterwinners from last year while bringing in 11 newcomers.
All-Time Series
Texas State leads the all-time series 13-9 with the last 18 meetings being as conference opponents. The Bobcats have won the last seven meetings and 11 of the last 12.
When playing in the Natural State's capital, TXST has posted a 5-6 record. The team has won the last three road games and four of the last five. The last meeting on the road came on Jan. 20, 2022 and ended with a 69-59 score.
Monday will be the first non-conference meeting between the teams since Nov. 22, 2006 in San Marcos. That day saw the Trojans win 83-77. It will be the first non-conference road contest since Texas State fell 73-54 on Nov. 26, 2005.
