SAN MARCOS, Texas – Coming off a conference runner-up finish in both men's and women's in last year's indoor season, Texas State track and field will get its 2023 indoor campaign started this weekend with the Corky Classic in Lubbock, Texas.

The Bobcats, under the direction of second-year Director of Track and Field/Cross Country John Frazier, return a pair of Sun Belt indoor champions from last year's squad:
Anayah Washington (long jump) and
Dominick Yancy (400 meters).

Yancy, who set the Sun Belt Conference indoor mark in the 400 last year, was also a part of the 4x400 relay team that won the conference title. He ran with fellow returners
Taahir Kelly and
Brian West – along with graduate
Donald Rolle.

Washington and Yancy may be the returning conference champions, but other key returners include last year's Sun Belt podium finishers
Katherine Stuckly (high jump),
Sadi Giles (60 meters and 200 meters),
Daniel Harrold (60 meter hurdles), and
Brian West (400 meters).

This weekend's two-day meet starts on Friday at 2:30 pm with the women's weight throw. The first day of the meet will feature the men's and women's pole vault, men's and women's long jump, men's and women's high jump, and men's weight throw. In Friday's running events, the women's 600 yard race will kick things off at 5 pm.

Saturday's schedule gets underway at 11 am with the women's shot put and women's pole vault in the field and women's and men's mile race on the track. The running events are projected to finish around 5:40 pm.
