NEW ORLEANS – Sophomore
Madi Goss followed her first career hat trick on Sunday by being named the Sun Belt Conference's Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday. It is her first weekly accolade in her career and the second straight week that a Bobcat player has been following Defensive Player of the Week honors for
Katelyn Chrisman last week.
Goss netted the first two goals of the contest within the first 18 minutes of the match against ULM. Both tallies came off corner kicks sent in by
Juana Plata. Goss capped off her hat trick with TXST's fourth and final goal of the match near the end of the 55th minute.
The hat trick was the first by a Bobcat since Oct. 23, 2015 when Lauren Prater achieved the feat against Georgia State. Goss is the ninth different player in program history to score at least three goals in a match and was the 12th such occurrence. The sophomore's six points in the contest is tied for the fifth most in team history.
Goss has totaled six goals on the season to lead Texas State and tie for the second most in the Sun Belt.
The sophomore is the first TXST student-athlete to claim the weekly offensive award from the conference since Kaylee Davis on Oct. 8, 2019.
Next up for Goss and the Bobcats is a road trip to Southern Miss on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
