FORT WORTH, Texas – Kiana Graham advanced to the round of 64 in the main draw at the ITA Regional Championship winning two matches on day one, and two doubles teams advanced to the round of 32.
Singles
Junior
Kiana Graham was the lone Bobcat to make it out of the qualifying round of 64. Graham, who was awarded the No. 4 seed in the qualifying draw, defeated freshman Clara Sobius from Tarleton State in straight sets 6-2, 7-5.
Graham advances to the round of 64 in the main draw to take on Azul Pedemonti from Houston. Pedemonti recorded 11 singles victories and nine doubles victories.
Doubles
Mae McCutcheon and
Kiana Graham, as well as
Kate Malazonia and
Sofia Fortuno moved onto their round of 32 matches that will be played tomorrow, Friday Sept. 23 at 3 p.m.
A matchup between McCutcheon and Graham with ninth seed duo Jasmine Adams and Matilde Morais from UNT is on deck for a chance to advance to the round of 16.
Malazonia and Fortuno will take on the sixth seeded team from Rice of Marte Lambrecht and Allison Zipoli.
If the two Bobcat doubles teams win their matches, they will continue their run Saturday, Sept. 24 at 10:30 a.m.
