FORT WORTH, Texas – Texas State women's tennis wrapped up its fourth fall tournament at the ITA Texas Regional in Fort Worth, earning seven victories between singles and doubles play.
Doubles
The Bobcats fielded two doubles teams in the main draw, and both finished 1-1 on the weekend.
Ireland Simme/Emily Niers
Niers and Simme started strong in doubles play against ACU's Victoria Correa and Angela Del Campo, earning an 8-3 win. Texas Tech's Mariia Hlahola and Hailey Murphy defeated the Bobcats in the next round, 8-2.
Tadiwa Mauchi/Charlotte Roesch
Mauchi and Roesch opened doubles play against UTRGV's Rhea Makesar and Mariia Bakhtina, winning 8-4. Baylor's Na Dong and Zuzanna Kubacha topped the Bobcats in the following round, 8-4.
Singles
Tadiwa Mauchi, Emily Niers and Charlotte Roesch all began singles play in the qualifying rounds, while Ireland Simme opened in the main draw of 64.
Charlotte Roesch
In her first qualifying-round match, Roesch faced Tarleton State's Emma Persson and dropped the match 6-4, 7(7)-6(3). She bounced back in the consolation round with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Abilene Christian's Jessica Board.
Tadiwa Mauchi
Mauchi won her first qualifying-round match against SFA's Avery Kinsey in a hard-fought three-set battle, 6-3, 6(2)-7(7), 7(7)-6(5). She advanced to the qualifying round of 32, where she faced Houston's Iva Sepa. Mauchi fought hard but ultimately fell in straight sets, 7(7)-6(3), 6-2.
Emily Niers
Niers won her first qualifying-round match against ACU's Alice Klinteby in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. She advanced to the qualifying round of 32 and faced UTSA's Aoka Nagasawa, falling 6-1, 6-1.
Ireland Simme
Simme was the lone Bobcat to start play in the main draw of 64. She opened against Baylor's Zuzanna Kubacha, falling 6-2, 6-3 to move into the consolation bracket. Simme went on to win both of her consolation matches, defeating Houston's Gabriela Cortes 7(10)-6(8), 6-3 and UTSA's Giuliana Giardina in three sets, 2-6, 6-2, [12-10].
The Bobcats will return to action Nov. 1-2 for their last tournament of the fall season when they host the States Up Slam. More information on the States Up Slam will be released in the coming weeks.
