SAN MARCOS, Texas — Texas State women's tennis wrapped up the River State Shoot-Out on Sunday afternoon with 14 total wins over two days of competition. The Bobcats earned eight singles wins along with six wins in doubles contests. The River State Shoot-Out consisted of Texas State, Incarnate Word, Stephen F. Austin, Northwestern State, and UTGRV.
Doubles
The Bobcats fielded four teams in the doubles contests and earned six wins in eleven matches.
Simme/Niers
In Group 1 of doubles play, Ireland Simme and Emily Niers earned two wins out of three matches. The senior Bobcat duo opened with a 6-3 victory over Northwestern State's Lolita Hukasian and Maria Farina before falling 6-2 to Stephen F. Austin's Ksenia Mamontova and Jemma Cave. Simme and Niers closed their group with a 7-5 win against Incarnate Word's Estefania Gonzalez and Ine Lamprecht.
Cooks/Roesch
In Group 2, Bobcat newcomers Charlotte Roesch and Stoney Cooks also went 2-1. The pair started strong with a 7-5 win against Northwestern State's Zoi Spyrou and Honoka Umeda. After a close 6-4 loss to Stephen F. Austin's Sonja Rooth and Felicia Back, they rebounded with a 6-2 victory over Incarnate Word's Luciana Paez Hernandez and Alexandra Mille.
Collins/Mills
In Group 3, Olivia Collins and Chantajah Mills faced a challenging slate, dropping all three of their matches. The Texas State pair fell 6-1 to Northwestern State's Athina Grigoriadou and Martina Acebedo, 7-6 (2) to Stephen F. Austin's Ana Paula Chavez and Avery Kinsey, and 6-4 to UTRGV's Mariia Bakhtina and Luna Buijtenhuijs.
Radovanovic/Richardet
In Group 4, Anastasia Radovanovic and Julia Richardet went undefeated, securing two wins. The duo defeated UTRGV's Barbara Martinez and Valentina Urraco 7-5 and followed with a 6-4 victory over Incarnate Word's Victoria Salcedo Franklin and Amelia Perez-Corona.
Singles
Eight Bobcats competed in the women's singles and secured eight total wins over two days of competition.
Charlotte Roesch
In Group 1 of singles play, Roesch went 1-2 on the weekend. Roesch fell 6-2, 6-3 to Incarnate Word's Estefania Gonzalez and 7-5, 6-4 to Stephen F. Austin's Felicia Back before earning a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Northwestern State's Zoi Spyrou.
Emily Niers
In Group 2, Niers faced a tough draw, dropping all three of her matches. Niers fell 6-0, 6-0 to Incarnate Word's Luciana Paez Hernandez, 6-0, 6-1 to Stephen F. Austin's Ksenia Mamontova, and 6-3, 6-1 to Northwestern State's Maria Farina.
Ireland Simme
In Group 3, Simme picked up two wins for the Bobcats. Simme opened with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Incarnate Word's Alexandra Mille and closed with a 6-4, 6-0 win against Northwestern State's Lolita Hukasian. Her only loss came in a three-set battle against Stephen F. Austin's Jemma Cave, 6-2, 5-7, [10-5].
Olivia Collins
In Group 4, Collins battled in two competitive matches but came up short in both. Collins fell to Incarnate Word's Amelia Perez-Corona 1-6, 6-2, [10-7] and to Stephen F. Austin's Sonja Rooth 6-3, 3-6, [10-5].
Stoney Cooks
In Group 5, Cooks went undefeated for Texas State, winning both of her matches in straight sets. Cooks defeated UTRGV's Maria Bakhtina 7-6 (2), 6-3 and Stephen F. Austin's Antonella Taco 6-0, 6-3.
Anastasia Radovanovic
In Group 6, Radovanovic finished with a 2-1 record. After falling 7-6 (4), 6-2 to UTRGV's Luna Buijtenhuijs, Radovanovic responded with consecutive victories. 6-1, 6-2 over Northwestern State's Athina Grigoriadou and 6-4, 6-2 over Incarnate Word's Victoria Salcedo Franklin.
Chantajah Mills
In Group 7, Mills split her two matches. Mills earned a 6-4, 3-6, [10-4] win over UTRGV's Valentina Urraco before falling in a close match to Stephen F. Austin's Avery Kinsey, 6-4, 3-6, [10-6].
Julia Richardet
In Group 8, Richardet battled through three matches but was unable to come away with a win. Richardet dropped matches to Incarnate Word's McKenzy Byfield (6-3, 6-2) and UTRGV's Barbara Martinez (6-1, 6-1) and Valentina Urraco (6-1, 6-1).
Texas State women's tennis return to action Oct. 9-14 when they travel to Fort Worth, Texas, to compete in the ITA Texas Regionals hosted by TCU.
