SAN MARCOS, Texas – For the second season in a row the Texas State women's tennis program travels to Forth Worth for the five-day ITA Texas Regional Championship on Sept. 22-26.
The ITA Texas Regional Championship will be hosted by TCU and features 125 players. Day one of the tournament will feature a 64-person field of players trying to qualify for the main draw on Friday, as well as the doubles main draw.
The qualifying round of singles begins Thursday at 9:30 a.m., and doubles competition will begin shortly after the conclusion of singles matches on Thursday.
The Bobcats doubles teams will include
Jadeh Chan and
Andrea Pineda,
Sofia Fortuno and
Kate Malazonia, and
Kiana Graham and
Mae McCutcheon.
Chan and Pineda will open play against UIW's Brandelyn Fulgenzi and Lauren Fulgenzi in the round of 64. Fortuno and Malazonia team up to take on Texas A&M Corpus Christi's Emma Aucagne and Palina Saulevich. Graham and McCutcheon advance and begin their play in the round of 32 due to their round of 64 opponent's injury.
The doubles pairings are the same from the ASU Slam Fest where Chan and Pineda won their doubles flight at the Slam Fest.
The six Bobcats that will vie for the singles main draw on Friday are Fortuno, Graham,
Maria Lora, Malazonia, McCutcheon, and Pineda.
Freshman Pineda will be making her third consecutive start for the Bobcats, and Graham looks to continue her success in singles after winning the top flight at Slam Fest.
This will be the first time competing in this event for Graham, Lora, and Pineda.
Following the ITA Regional Championships, the Bobcats will play host for the TXST Fall Invite Oct. 8-9.
