SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State women's tennis head coach
Kendall Brooks, announced Thursday that Beth Hayward has joined the Bobcats as a graduate assistant coach.
"I'm really excited and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the program at Texas State," Hayward said. "As a former player of Coach Brooks, I can't wait to be working alongside one of the best and to be able to take this program to the next level. I am looking forward to being on campus and meeting all the staff and players, and of course being a part of the Bobcat family!"
Hayward rejoins Coach Brooks as a graduate assistant coach after playing under her at St. Edward's University from 2016-19.
"I am so pumped about Beth coming on board as our assistant coach," said Brooks. "She brings great experience and knowledge as a former All-American collegiate player herself. Having played for me, she knows exactly the championship culture we are trying to build and is eager to learn and develop as a coach as well. I think our players will thrive having her around."
Brooks and Hayward accomplished many firsts while at SEU which includes achieving the program's highest national ranking at No. 16 in 2019 and Hayward being one of the Hilltoppers first ITA All-Americans and finished the season ranked No. 2 in doubles.
In her second season with the Hilltoppers, Hayward was First Team All-Heartland and named the ITA South Central Region Player to Watch when she picked up 16 singles wins and 12 in doubles. In 2018, she had her first 20-win doubles season at SEU. She followed up the 2019 season with 25 doubles wins and made All-Heartland First Team.
Hayward was part of the 2019 season where the Hilltoppers advanced to the NCAA Division II Final 16, and won the Heartland Conference Championship and the South Central Regional Championship.
Prior to being added to the Texas State tennis staff, Hayward was a tennis coach at St. George's Weybridge for five months in England.
Before SEU, Hayward played one season at UT El Paso with five singles wins and a 10-7 mark in doubles.
