COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas State's
Daniel Harrold broke a 35-year-old school record in the 110-meter hurdles and the women's 4x100 relay team established a new school mark – two weeks after setting the previous best – as the Bobcats competed in the Alumni Muster meet at E.B. Cushing Stadium on Saturday.
Harrold ran 13.69 in the 110-meter hurdles to take first place but also set the school record by one-hundredth of a second. The previous school best was held by Mark Floyd who ran 13.70 in 1987. Harrold had run 13.80 earlier this year in the event, which is now fourth-best in school history.
About 15 minutes before Harrold turned in his record-breaking performance, the women's 4x100 team of
Anayah Washington,
Victoria Wright,
Christine Irving, and
Sedrickia Wynn set a new Texas State standard with a time of 44.80. It bested the previous mark of 44.94 set two weeks ago by Washington, Irving,
Kiana Rollins, and Wynn at the Charles Austin Classic in San Marcos.
The Bobcats finished the day with 17 personal-bests and nine top-10 school marks to go with the pair of school records.
The men's 4x100 relay team turned in one of the best times in school history as well, running 39.83 to record the fourth-fastest by the Bobcats.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Wynn put up a blistering time of 13.46 for the sixth-fastest time in school history. It was only three hundredths of a second behind her personal-best set earlier this season.
Dominick Yancy, running the 200-meter dash for the first time in more than a month, clocked a time of 20.87 on Saturday which is tied for the eighth-fastest in school history and third-fastest in the Sun Belt this year.
Alyssa Wilson turned in the third-farthest shot put in school history with a toss of 17.00 meters/55-9.25 as well as the fifth-best throw in the discus with a mark of 54.60 meters/179-1. The discus toss was also a meet record.
Lee-Anne Blake (2:08.38; 8th fastest) and the men's 4x400 relay (3:07.14; 7th fastest) also had top-10 school marks.
The Bobcats will now turn their attention to the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, set for May 12-14 in Lafayette, La.
