ABOUT TEXAS STATE
The Bobcat are coming off a historic weekend as the team claimed its first-ever road series over a ranked opponent in program history after winning the final two games against then 11th-ranked Arizona. Dalton Shuffield continued his hot hitting and enters the week leading the team in batting average (.452), hits (19), RBI (15) and home runs (3). John Wuthrich comes in batting .375 with a team leading 14 runs scored. Both he and Jose Gonzalez are a perfect 5-for-5 stealing bases. Other players batting over .300 are Cameron Gibbons and Isaiah Ortega-Jones at .356 and .348, respectively.

Slated to start on Tuesday is Trevis Sundgren. The senior is 1-0 with a 2.79 ERA and seven strikeouts in 9.2 innings. Last season against Texas, he threw five innings with three strikeouts and allowed just one run on three hits. Wednesday starter has yet to be announced.

ABOUT TEXAS
The Longhorns won their first 11 games of the season before falling on Sunday to UCLA 5-1 in both teams' final game of the Shriners College Classic that took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston. UT is currently in the middle of a stretch in which it plays 10 of 11 games away from home with the long contest in Austin taking place on Wednesday.

Murphy Stehly leads the team with a .409 batting average. The trio of Silas Ardoin (.317), Douglas Hodo III (.321) and Eric Kennedy (.378) are batting over .300. Ivan Melendez comes in pacing the Longhorns with three home runs and 15 RBI while his 13 runs scored is tied for first with 13 runs scored with Kennedy.

Slated to start on Tuesday will be Andre Duplantier II. The right-hander is 2-0 with a 0.77 ERA and eight strikeouts in 11.2 innings. It will be his fifth appearance and third start of the season. Wednesday's starter is to be announced.

Both Luke Harrison and Aaron Nixon have two saves. They have each appeared in five games out of the bullpen, have yet to surrender a run and have combined for 17 strikeouts. Daniel Blair (0.00 ERA, 8 K), Lebarron Johnson (1-0, 5.40 ERA) and Travis Sthele (1-0, 1.35 ERA) have made four relief appearances.

SERIES VS. LONGHORNS
Texas leads the series 51-12, have won three straight and eight of the last nine meetings. Texas State's last victory came on Apr. 23, 2019 at Bobcat Ballpark. The Bobcats overcame a three-run deficit to score four in the ninth with two coming on a home run by Will Hollis and Skyler Valentine hitting a two RBI walk-off single for the 7-6 victory.

Last time TXST won in Austin was May 17, 2016 by a score of 3-2. That night saw Texas State use nine pitchers and the eventual winning run being scored in the eighth inning thanks to a fielding error by the Longhorns right fielder.

The Bobcats are 2-6 all-time when hosting UT and 10-44 when facing the Longhorns on the road.
