Five Wins, Two Top-10 School Marks Highlight UTSA Invitational Final Day

Wilson and Harrold posted the eighth-best school marks in discus and 110 meter hurdle

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Texas State earned five wins and saw a pair of top-10 school marks on Saturday as the Bobcats closed out their first outdoor meet of the season at the UTSA Invitational at Park West Athletics Complex on Saturday.

Sadi Giles (women's 100 meter dash), Daniel Harrold (men's 110 meter hurdles), Anayah Washington (women's long jump), Alyssa Wilson (women's discus) and Sedrickia Wynn (women's 100 meter hurdles) all earned victories in their respective events to highlight the day for the Bobcats.

Wilson and Harrold, meanwhile, each posted the eighth-best mark in school history in their events. Wilson, who set a school record on Friday in the hammer throw, threw 52.96m (173-9) in the discus on Saturday to earn her 12th different top-10 mark in the school record books. Harrold raced past the competition by nearly three-tenths of a second and finished with a time of 13.95 seconds in the 110 meter hurdles to crack the Texas State top-10.

Harrold's time nearly set the meet record, falling short by seven hundredths of a second.

For the entire meet, Texas State earned seven top spots on the podium. Wilson captured first-place finishes in the hammer throw and shot put on Friday.

While Wilson and Harrold were standouts from a school record standpoint, Giles put up an impressive wind-aided time of 11.61 in the women's 100 meter dash. Although it was over the 2.0 m/s wind threshold, it was a career-best time and beat out second-place Kierra Yarbrough of Stephen F. Austin by nearly two-tenths of a second (11.79).

Washington won the women's long jump with a leap of 6.10 meters (20-0.25). It was her longest jump in her outdoor career and only third time she has jumped over six meters. Her career-best is 6.21m (20-4.5) set in this year's Sun Belt Indoor Championships in February.

Wynn picked up the victory in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.27. It edged out Stephen F. Austin's Mathilde Coquillaud-Salomon by one-hundredth of a second (14.28) for first place.

Wynn also competed in the 100 meter dash, placing third with a PR time of 11.90. It was one of 11 PRs set by the Bobcats on Saturday.

Texas State will host its first meet of the season this week, the Bobcat Invitational starting on Thursday with the discus, javelin, 1500 meter and 5000 meter in both men's and women's. The meet runs Thursday through Saturday.

Some Bobcats will compete in the Texas Relays in Austin Wednesday-Saturday.
