SAN MARCOS, Texas – Five Texas State soccer student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team on Wednesday. Earning the accolades was
Katelyn Chrisman,
Caroline Kirschner,
Haley Shaw,
Avery Thies and
Kamaria Williams.

Chrisman finished the season with 57 saves to tie for the third most by a sophomore goalkeeper in Bobcat history. She recorded four shutouts, which is tied for the second most by a Bobcat sophomore. The Belton, Texas have also posted a .740 save percentage and 1.19 GAA.

During the year, she picked up her first career Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week award after setting a career-high with nine saves in the conference opener against Arkansas State. She concluded the year with a six-save performance versus James Madison in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Tournament.

In the classroom, Chrisman has a 3.69 GPA and is working on her bachelor's degree in communications.

Kirschner, a graduate transfer from St. Edward's, played in all 19 matches and started 13 on the backline. She helped TXST record five shutouts on the season and limited opponents to one goal in nine other matches.

One assist was recorded by the Beaumont, Texas native during the campaign, which came on the match-tying goal against Rice in the eventual 2-1 Texas State win. She totaled 1,309 minutes on the pitch to rank third on the team among field players.

Kirschner recorded a 3.71 GPA while completing her bachelor's degree and is currently working on her master's degree in exercise science with a focus in strength and condition.

Shaw was one of three Bobcats to start all 19 matches this season. The midfielder finished the year with one goal, two assists and 21 shots. Her lone tally tied the match in the 85th minute in a 2-2 draw at North Texas. She totaled 1,203 minutes on the pitch and played at least 60 minutes in 12 contests.

A health and fitness management major, the Spicewood, Texas native has a 3.66 GPA. She has twice been named to the Sun Belt Commissioner's List.

Thies started 17 matches at center back and played a team leading 1,494 minutes among field players. The senior earned All-Sun Belt Second Team honors after totaling her first career goals and assist while setting career-highs with 10 shots and five shots on goal.

Her assist came on the lone goal of the contest in the 1-0 season opening victory. She would knock in her own rebound in the 86th minute for her first career goal and the match-winner over Rice, the first over the Owls in 20 years.

Thies, one of TXST's three team captains this season, has a 4.00 GPA and will graduate this spring her bachelor's degree in exercise and sports science with a concentration in pre-rehabilitation. Each of the previous three years she has been recognized on the Sun Belt Commissioner's List and received the Texas State Star of Excellence Award.

Williams started all 19 matches on the backline and finished with one assist and six shots. She totaled a career-high 1,408 minutes on the field that placed her second among the Bobcats' field players.

On of this year's team captains, the Mansfield, Texas native started 48 consecutive matches to conclude her career. She also finished with four years in San Marcos with six assists, 35 shots and 16 shots on goal.

Williams is on track to graduate in the spring with her bachelor's degree in health science. She has twice been named to the Sun Belt Commissioner's List and once to the Academic Honor Roll.

All five Bobcats will be up to be selected to one of the Academic All-America teams that will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
