Bobcats Take on the Dukes in Sun Belt Quarterfinals

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The fifth seeded Texas State soccer team (12-4-2) faces fourth seed James Madison (10-3-5) in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Championship on Wednesday in Foley, Alabama. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Foley Sports Complex.

About Texas State
The Bobcats wrapped up the regular season with a 1-0 Senior Night victory over App State. Kiara Gonzales headed home the lone goal in the 77th minute with the ball being crossed in by Juana Plata.
 
Madi Goss continues to pace TXST with nine goals and as named to the All-Sun Belt First Team. She was joined by senior defender Avery Thies, who was selected to the second team.
 
Netting four goals, all of them being match-winners, is Zoe Junior. Adding three tallies has been Olivia Wright and Gonzales. Plata has been credited with a team-high five assists and Goss ranks second on the team with three assists.
 
In goal, Katelyn Chrisman has posted a 1.21 GAA and made 51 saves with a .729 save percentage. Her four shutouts this year are tied for the second most by a sophomore in Bobcat history, matching teammate Beth Agee's total from last season.
 
About James Madison
The Dukes finished second in the East Division and fourth overall after wrapping up the regular season with a 5-0 victory at home over Troy. They finished 6-1-3 in conference play with the lone loss coming to regular season champion Georgia Southern.
 
Amanda Attanasi leads JMU with seven goals, five match-winning goals, 17 points, 42 shots and 22 shots on goal. Lidia Nduka comes in with five goals and four assists. Netting four tallies has been Sophia Verrecchia while Suwaibatu Mohammed has found the back of the net three times. Lexi Vanderlinden enters with a conference leading eight assists.
 
Alexandra Blom, the Sun Belt's Goalkeeper of the Year, finished the season with a 0.47 GAA over 15 matches. She comes in with 59 saves and a .894 save percentage. The junior has also posted seven solo shutouts and been a part of two others.
 
All-Time Series
James Madison won the only meeting between the programs earlier this season in San Marcos on Oct. 6. The Dukes scored the first three goals in the 3-1 contest. Goss scored TXST's lone goal on a penalty kick in the 79 minute that ended JMU's shutout streak at 476:31 minutes.
